On the afternoon of April 18, 2024, the unveiling ceremony of SZU-AFS Joint Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence Technology, themed "Guiding New Quality Productivity, Empowering the Future with AI+", was held at the first-floor lecture hall of the Zhiyi Building. The innovation center will fully utilize the scientific research strength of the College of Electronics and Information Engineering of Shenzhen University and the Guangdong Key Laboratory of Intelligent Information Processing, combine with the industrialization resources of AFS, focus on key issues in the field of artificial intelligence, conduct scientific research on innovative theories and advanced technologies, and promote industry-academia-research cooperation and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Leaders from government, heads of industry associations, representatives from investment institutions and cooperative organizations, representatives of Shenzhen University faculty and students, and representatives of Afirstsoft Technology Group (AFS) employees gathered to witness this important moment.
At the ceremony, Hui Zhou, Vice President of Shenzhen University, warmly welcomed the guests. He emphasized the importance of scientific research for the development of universities, encouraged teachers to continue their basic scientific research and exploration, and hoped that the innovation center could promote original innovation, advance technological research and development, and contribute even more to the development of the university and society.
Dayong Wang, a first-level researcher of the Industrial and Information Bureau of Bao’an District, gave high praise for the cooperation between SZU and AFS. He emphasized that Bao'an District actively promoted the integrated development of artificial intelligence and the real economy, and said that the government will fully support the construction of the innovation center and promote the application of artificial intelligence technology in emerging industrial clusters.
Yin Zhang, Executive Vice President of the Guangdong Artificial Intelligence Industry Association, introduced the scale and development prospects of the artificial intelligence industry in Guangdong Province. He pointed out that the cooperation is a positive response to the national strategy of innovation-driven development and hoped that the innovation center would become a source of technological innovation, injecting new impetus into the development of the artificial intelligence industry in Guangdong Province.
Sheng Li, President of AFS, expressed gratitude to all parties for supporting the construction of the innovation center. He introduced the strong R&D strength and innovation capabilities of AFS, and proposed to continue to increase R&D investment, carry out industry-academia-research collaboration with Shenzhen University, and contribute to promoting high-quality economic development.
Subsequently, Shenzhen University and AFS officially signed a cooperation agreement, and several guests unveiled the "SZU-AFS Joint Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence Technology" with great ceremony.
Then, Professor Bin Li, Director of the Joint Innovation Center, reported on the establishment background, cooperation basis, main tasks, operation mechanism, research directions, and development plans of the innovation center. He stated that the innovation center would fully leverage the advantages of both parties, endeavor to promote the research and development and transformation of artificial intelligence technology, and achieve deep integration of industry, academia, and research.
Finally, under the moderation of AWS Education Industry Manager Jianbin Zou, a roundtable dialogue on "Generative Artificial Intelligence and Innovation of New Quality Productivity in Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration" was conducted by Jiwu Huang (Distinguished Professor of Shenzhen University), Sheng Li (President of AFS), Liang Zhong (Deputy Secretary-General of the Guangdong Artificial Intelligence Industry Association), Zhong Ji (Deputy Secretary-General of the Shenzhen Venture Capital Association), and Zhuotan Ma (Director of Grandall Law Firm, Shenzhen). They deeply discussed topics such as theoretical research, technical applications, talent cultivation, industrial challenges, industry-academia-research cooperation, investment prospects, and ethical regulations in the field of generative artificial intelligence, enabling participants to comprehensively understand the current development status and future trends in this field.
